Memorial and Schedule Changes in Light of Our Great Loss

Dear Friends,

Our community has experienced a great loss recently. Our friend and teacher, Dana Goudie, has passed on due to a tragic accident. My heart breaks with and for all of you who have lost a teacher, friend, and mentor. No one will ever be able to fill her shoes in this yoga family.

There will be a memorial practice in honor of Dana on Friday, June 8 at 6pm at Center for Spiritual Living, 1230 Montlimar Dr Mobile.

Know that I plan on continuing the mission of Kula as best I can. Kula Yoga Community was our shared vision and passion, and I want Dana's legacy to live on through it. It is my intention to keep providing Pay What You Can Yoga for those who need it.

Please see the "classes" page for an updated schedule. Dana's regularly scheduled classes will be canceled this week, but I intend to keep the schedule as intact as is possible starting next week.
The family has yet to make any arrangements for services, but I will keep you up to date as I receive information.

This blog post has been provided to share happy memories in the comments. Dana's spirit will remain alive in all those she has touched.

Continuing in love,

Amanda Brenner

  1. When I first moved to Fairhope, Dana was one of the first yoga teachers that I practiced under/with. She blew me away. Each class so full of energy, so fresh and so helpful and vibrant. She had deep insight into your life on and off the mat just by practicing with her. She was a wise and deeply soulful woman that I continued to look up to and seek out even after she moved from FH. Her wisdom, her love, her humor, her lightness and sweetness is an epic loss for this community. Dana one of the most deeply devoted people I've ever met in her mission of promoting and strengthening the very new yoga community in this area. We are lucky to have Amanda as such a strong support system and leader for the Kula community as the Kula mission lives on through her. Namaste!

  2. Dana was a beautiful person in every way. She pulled me into ashtanga and through every practice. Her gift for teaching touched yoga students and young children alike. Her legacy among them will live long past her years with us.

  3. It is so inspiring to see how one person has touched so many lives, I think it is because Dana was doing what she was put on this earth to do. It's something we all search for and she is an example of someone who found it and practiced it with so much love. You only had to take one class with her to realize how special a teacher she was. It was never about her, but about how each student was feeling that day. While the timing of her departure makes no sense now the universe has some plan for her. Amanda know you have the support of the community as you go forward with Kula.
